These methods are not offered in all medical facilities because they require specialized equipment and technical training for staff implementing the test. Genotyping of the virus uses RT\u2013PCR products from clinical samples and compare virus samples from various geographical sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A virus-produced protein, called NS1 may also be used for testing of the virus. Commercially produced rapid diagnostic tests are also available which takes only 20 minutes to diagnose the results and do not require any specialized laboratory techniques or equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) is one of many serological methods that confirm the presence of a recent or past infection with the detection of IgM and IgG anti-dengue antibodies. IgM antibodies are detectable one week after infection and are maximum at 2 to 4 weeks after the start of disease and remain detectable for up to three weeks. The presence indicates a recent infection, the traces of IgG indicates a past infection, and its anti-bodies take longer to develop but remain in the body for many years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
